INTRODUCING DR. ALBERT S. FERGUSON, J.P.

Dr. Albert Sidney Ferguson, B.Sc., hons, MBA, Ph.D. is an early-retired, corporate executive, a tertiary-level educator and former college professor of Management Studies, a management trainer and consultant, an entrepreneur, a transformational leader and a motivational speaker.

As such, he has a strong background in Executive and Senior level management, having served in three companies at such levels for twenty-five (25) years, as well as a strong background as a teacher and trainer, having taught business subject at the college and university level in four (4) different tertiary-level institutions (both part-time and full-time) for almost twenty (20) years.  He has conducted training seminars in total-quality customer service, supervisory management and middle management and has performed consultancy assignments.

Ordained as a Minister of Religion in April of 1978, Dr. Ferguson has performed in ministerial positions and assignments both in The Bahamas and in the USA.  He has functioned (full-time and part-time) in several servant-leadership posts (in more than one denomination), such as Administrator in the World Missions Department (assigned to post-secondary Liberal Arts and Ministry Training), Youth Coordinator /Youth Pastor, Director of Ministerial Training & Development (in a network of over forty churches), and as Assistant Pastor.  This diverse background in corporate leadership and church leadership eminently qualifies him as an author, religious commentator and as a seminar leader and conference speaker on the subject of church leadership.  He has written a series of three (3) books addressing the subject of church leadership.

Dr. Ferguson is a published author of several books, a newspaper columnist, veteran musician and former Brass Band member, recording artist and a community volunteer.  As an entrepreneur and trailblazer, he established Albania Christian Academy, which is now a leading early-educational institution in Nassau, since 1994, catering to children ages fifteen (15) months to six (6) years (or until children are ready for Grade one in elementary/primary school).

Over the years, Dr. Ferguson has received numerous accolades, awards and citations, among them the “Exceptional Father Award” in June of 2004 from the Golden Gates World Outreach Ministries church and an award in April of 2007 as an influential person in the community from the “Women of Influence” organization.  In 2006, the government of The Bahamas awarded him the title and function of J.P. (Justice of the Peace) and he was sworn in as an officer of the Court.  He is also the recipient of an award designating him “A Pioneer Member” of the world-famous Bahamas Brass Band.

Dr. Ferguson hails from the Brown and Farquharson heritage of Colonel Hill and Brown’s, Crooked Island, in the “Islands of The Bahamas” but was born in very humble surroundings in Eneas Jumper Corner in Nassau, Bahamas.  As a ‘common man’ from a common background, he embraced uncommon opportunities and accomplished uncommon achievements.

Dr. Ferguson celebrated his 60th Birthday in 2010 with the release of a 305-page, hard-cover devotion and motivational book for men titled “DEVOTIONS FOR TENDER-HEARTED MEN—Weekly Theme-based Devotions and Meditations;” and donating six hundred (600) copies free-of-charge, firstly to men in rehabilitation programs in Nassau, including inmates at Her Majesty’s Prison, and secondly, to the para-military men in uniform of the Royal Bahamas Police Force and the Royal Bahamas Defense Force, as a gesture of appreciation for their under-appreciated national service.
He is married to Sandy Joye Curtis of Richmond Hill and Farmers Hill, Exuma and the couple has one daughter, Cyd Sandia.

His life’s motto is captured in the Latin phrase, “Deo Meum Donum,” which translates to “My Gift To God.”  His posture is to utilize his gifts and talents in such a manner that the end products may again be presented to God as gifts—worthy of the commendation “Well Done!”
